Bright Star Counseling

Mental health counseling in Sulphur Springs Texas

Let’s Talk About It

You deserve to feel better. You aren’t alone! We can work to get you to that goal, Together

We want to make an impact on our community of Sulphur Springs Texas by helping the people and families of our area live better lives! We think therapy is amazing and that everyone deserves the time and space and most importantly the support to work on your best self.

Life doesn’t make any sense without interdependence. We need each other, and the sooner we learn that, the better for us all.

You’re probably wondering About….

We are currently credentialed with:

  • Aetna
  • Cigna
  • Blue Cross
  • United Health Care

We are glad to help you verify your deductible, co-pay and coverage!

The standard session time for families, couples, and individuals is 50 minutes.

Since the majority of people reach out to start therapy when they are already struggling, most people prefer weekly at first. This can vary if you are hoping for more than once a week, or only twice a month. As long as it fits your therapists schedule openings, you can both choose how often you meet.

For most of us, life is also variable. You may need sessions often at first, and then come less often. The holidays also happen, and you can bet your therapist at Bright Star will be urging you to take a likely much needed vacation in the year, as do our staff! All of these contribute to changes in schedule and you’ll work together to find the most consistent plan possible while also allowing for your own needed flexibility.

Lauren Lane, LPC, Owner

I most often work with women overcoming significant life changes and issues like infertility, loss of a child, pregnancy loss, divorce and infidelity, as well as survivors of trauma.

I also support you using the name you most identify with and will endeavor to use this name as well as chosen pronouns. We are mandated to use your birth name of origin (until legal name change) on any documentation for your insurance. Beyond this one document, you will see our practice affirming your name and identifiers. Every individual should be able to express themselves in a way that is comfortable for them.

Britney Bryant, LPC

I most often work with adults ready to tackle their lives head on, who are ready to change negative patterns of behavior and thinking that contribute to a less than fulfilling life. Our job together is to bring you the change that makes a better life not only possible but lasts.

Yep! We’ve been seeing clients virtually since 2014 (yes pre pandemic!). Lauren even wrote her college thesis on online therapy in 2003 when we still had dial up internet and nobody believed that it would even be “a thing”. Bright Star Counseling has always been on the forefront of online therapy, but before 2020, our practice mostly served Hopkins County and the Sulphur Springs area.

Of course we all navigated 2020 together, so we don’t have to tell you it changed everything! Now roughly 85% of our sessions are online, even clients who used to sit on our couch before covid.

This also fundamentally changed our schedule, so while we still have our office, we have significantly fewer spots in the office now and we will most likely have online appointments available most often. The best part is this has made therapy so much more attainable and our services are offered STATEWIDE. This is a super bonus for those of you who may have difficulty accessing services, LGBT affirming therapists or clients who may have physical limitations that make office visits a struggle.

After you call or text tel:9036892744 , our scheduling coordinator will ask for your email address and send you a link to our online portal. We use an online system called Simple Practice and you complete all of the paperwork online from the comfort of your home.

Our intake paperwork will allow you to fill out info like your history, address, contact information and anything you want us to know about you. Here you will also read and sign policies, confidentiality understandings, informed consent, and financial arrangement. Since this is kept in your own portal, you’ll also be able to log in and read these again at any time. You can also see scheduled appointments, upload documents, and store your payment source securely.

The initial paperwork doesn’t replace your first session so don’t stress adding all your history, but also ensure you have enough of a picture so your therapist can jump in with a good introduction to who you are!

Feeling accepted for who you are isImportant to us

It is important for us to support the equal rights of all people. Some of your work in therapy might be internal, navigating significant life transitions like identity, relationships and sexuality.

Sometimes you need support from us while you tell the loved ones in your life what you need.

Our role is to help you move forward.  Some of our clients want to simply understand themselves, and others want help having others understand them better. You may want to learn how to connect more with your body, and you may not even know what options you have in front of you.

We support the LGBTQIA+ community and we are also sex positive.
